PASSING OF A GOOD WOMAN

Mrs. A. C. Dean of Colo Died Very Suddenly

Colo, July 31--Mrs. A. C. Dean died very suddenly Saturday morning at her home. She had been poorly for a long time and was confined to her bed for about a week. Friday afternoon she seemed better and sat up for little while but early the next morning, while her husband and two daughters were watching at her bedside she quietly breathe her last. Her daughters had all been with her during the last days of her life but her son Ira Dean who lives at Middletown, N. Y. was unable to come.

Malissa Jane Benton, daughter of Samuel and Marie Benton was born at Neversink, Sullivan county, N. Y. on December 11, 1854 and died at her home in Colo, Ia., July 25, 1925, aged 70 years, 7 months and 14 days. On September 13, 1873 she was married to A. C. Dean at Neversink, N. Y. and Mr. and Mrs. Dean and their children moved to Sycamore, Ill., i882. In 1888 they and their family, which now included Mr. Dean's parents came to Iowa and located on a farm on the Lincoln highway, west of Colo. Later they moved to a farm a few miles farther north and in 1909 they moved to Colo.

Mrs. Dean made lasting friends of all her acquaintances. The memory of her kindly, patient, christian character is a rich legacy to her children. She was one of a family of seven and is survived by one brother, Daniel Benton of Kingston, N. Y. She leaves to mourn the loss of a loving and devoted wife and mother her husband and six children, Mrs. Lillie Moran and Mrs. Addie Cook of Nevada and Mrs. Fannie Cook of Zearing, Ira R. Dean of Middletown, N. Y., Mrs. Edna Kohl of Gilmore City an Mrs. Mildred Brouhard of Colo, besides 22 grandchildren and other relatives and a wide circle of friends.
