DEATHS
Mrs. Ray Heers
Funeral services for Mrs. Ray Heers, 7, of Route 3, Owatonna, Minn., were held Friday, August 23 at 2 p. m. from the Associated Church there with the Rev. Roschen officiating and interment was at the Dania Cemetery.
Mrs. Ray (Dorothy) Heers was a native of Story City, the daughter of J. C. (Chris) and Louise Johnson, was born in Story City on March 31, 1898. She grew up in Story City where she attended school and graduated from high school, after which she attended Highland Park College in Des Moines. She then taught in the Story County rural school system for two years.
On July 14, 1918 she was united in marriage to Ray W. Heers of Story City. They move to Blue Earth, Minn., where they farmed for five years. They also farmed in Winnebago, DeLavan and Amboy, Minn., before moving to Merton Township of Steele County in 1952. They retired in 1965. She was a member of the Associated Church of Owatonna, Minn.
Mrs. Heers passed away on Wednesday, August 21, at the Owatonna Nursing Home, where she had been a resident the past two and a half months.
She is survived by her husband, Ray, and five sons and four daughters John Heers of Apple Valley and Mrs. Jay (Jean) Alleman of Palo Alto, Calif.; Wendel Heers and Mrs. Dale (Marilyn) Larson of Ann Arbor, Mich.; Wallace Heers and Frank Heers of Owatonna; Mrs. Hollis (Margaret) Leagjeld and Mrs. Alex (Raedine) Larson of Amboy, and Paul Heers of Austin, Minn.; thirty grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Other survivors include one brother, Charles R. Johnson of Spencer, Ia., and Mrs. Lewis (Gladys) Heghin of Emmetsburg, Ia.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Howard Johnson.
