CIVIL WAR VETERAN DIED SUDDENLY
A. S. LIDDLE, 84, PASSED AWAY WHILE ON WAY HOME FROM TOWN.

Ames, April 28--Abraham S. Liddle, 84, well known Civil war veteran and member of Grand Army, died very suddenly Saturday afternoon at Ames. He had been down town in his usual health but upon his way home he collapsed and died before he could be taken to his home. Heart Failure was the cause of death.Mr. Liddle was born at Schenectady, N. Y. in 1840 and became a resident of near Ames in 1882. His wife died about 6 months ago. Funeral services were held from the Congregational church this afternoon at 1:30 and interment was in the Ames cemetery.

Gilbert, May 2--A large number of Gilbert people including Ms. L. Oliver, Mrs. Ida Slason, Jessie Wilson, Ethel Clark, Will Manges, E. T. Shouard and Rev. Davis attended the funeral of Abram S. Liddle who was buried in Ames Monday afternoon. Until he retired from active work on the farm he owned and lived on what is now known as the J. Eness farm one mile northeast of Gilbert. His wife died about six months ago. Soon after he took a trip to Schenectady, N. Y. a short time after his return his brother in New York died. Another brother, Robert Liddle who formerly lived one mile west of Gilbert died last fall at his home in Oregon. He leaves no near relatives in Iowa but a niece Mrs. Margaret Wilson and J. S. Liddle of Gilbert.
