Antonio Stefani Died Here Sunday; Funeral Tuesday

Antonio Stefani, 81, died early Sunday at the home of his son, Cesare Stefani, 747 Tenth Tenth street, Nevada, from the effects of a stroke of apoplexy a few days before.

Funeral services will be held at St. Patrick's church, Nevada on Tuesday morning at 9:30, after which burial will b in the St. Patrick's cemetery.

Mr. Stefania had been a resident of Nevada since late in 1928, shortly after the death of his wife in Italy, making his home with his son John and family and later with his son, Cesare.

He had been in his usual health and about town until early Thanksgiving morning when he suffered the first stroke. He had ben making preparation to attend the wedding of his granddaughter, Ada Stefani, in which he had been taking much interest, when the attack of apoplexy invalided him. He was taken first to Iowa sanitarium, and later returned to the home, where he suffered a second and fatal attack late this week.

Born in Piandelagotti, province of Modena, Italy, July 17, 1858, he would have been 82 years of age next July.

He was married in Italy and there raised his family, although during the last sixty years of his life he had traveled far and had seen activities in many countries.

He had worked in lumber camps in Corsica in the Mediterranean; had worked on and and been in charge as superintendent of coffee plantations in Brazil, S.A.; had worked in the mine of Africa and in various part of the United States and in the lumber camps of the northern part of the United States.

He returned to his family and home in Italy frequently however, and at one time had his family with him in South America.

He leaves six children, 15 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

His son Cesare, was born in South America, as was one child who died there. The surviving children are Angelo Lamberti and Mrs. Pete Stefani of Waukee, the son John and Cesare Stefani of Nevada and daughters Angela Stefani and Mrs. Armando Fontana of Lucca, Italy.

Mr. Stefani was a man of fine character, well read and of wide experience through his wide travel and was much devoted to his family an lived in contentment with them during his declining years.

He will be sincerely mourned by the members of his family, as well as by his many friends in the city and other parts of Iowa where he had relatives and friends.
