Held Funeral Service for Victim of Crash

Story City, May 17--Funeral services for Willie B. Johnson, a young farmer near Story City, who died Sunday morning at Marshalltown from an auto crash Saturday night, were held Wednesday afternoon at the Emanuel church. Rev. Heimarck, who conducted the services, was assisted by Rev. Bakke of McCallsburg.A duet sang by Mrs. Torjeson and Mrs. Jacobson. The pallbearers were his brother-in-laws, Lewis Holm, Eddie Holm, Eddie Anderson, Clarence Knutson, Kernel Lenning, Jake Gjerde.
Many beautiful floral offerings and a sum of money were given to missions in his memory. A large number of relatives and friends gathered for the final rites.
Willie Johnson was born January 26, 1900 and died in the Deaconess hospital at Marshalltown, May 9, 1937 at the age of 37 years, 3 months and 13 days.
Mr. Johnson was baptized by Rev. Lee and confirmed by Rev. Heimark. He grew to manhood in this community with the exception of a few years spent in Minnesota.
He was united in marriage to Jennie Holm March 16, 1927 and to this union were born two children, Carolyn Joan, eight yeas and Leo Bernard, five years.
Besides the bereaved wife and children he leaves to mourn his departure his mother, Mrs. Bertha Johnson, [sisters] Mrs. Mabel Hill and Mrs. Alma Furman of Story City, Mrs. Gladys Tesdall of Ames, [brothers] Joseph of Fairmont, Minn., Lester and Clarence of Story City and a host of other relatives and friends.
His father preceded him in death several years ago.
He was a kind and loving husband and father. Due to his untimely death, it came as a shock to all, especially to his beloved wife, with whom he was planning to spend Mother's Day at Oakdale sanitarium.
