THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, August 2, 2005.

Harriet W. Lewis, 87, of Ames died Monday, Aug. 1, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, at First Christian Church in Ames.

Harriet W. Lewis was born Jan. 20, 1918, in Van Horne to Fred and Ada Werner. She married Kenneth E .Lewis Sept. 4, 1948. She taught in the textiles and clothing department at Iowa State University until she retired in 1979. She had lived in Ames since 1947. She was a member of the Ames Rock and Mineral Club and First Christian Church.

She is survived by one son, Terry G. (Deborah) Lewis of Ames, and one brother, Richard (Gladys) Werner of Van Horne.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth E. Lewis in 1997.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Israel Family Hospice House.

Adams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
