Pioneer Woman Died at Home North of Gilbert

Gilbert, Jan. 7--Mrs. John Liddle, 85, one of the pioneers of this neighborhood, died at the home where she had lived for nearly sixty years, Wednesday afternoon at 2:00, after a brief illness. Flu and other complications was the cause of death.

Funeral services for the aged and respected pioneer will be held Saturday, with a prayer service at the home five miles northwest of Gilbert at noon and the funeral rites at the Congregational church in Gilbert at 1:00 o'clock. Burial will be in the Gilbert cemetery.

Mrs. Liddle was a native of Duanesburg, N. Y., where she was born December 28, 1851 and there she was married to John Liddle on February 24, 1873. In the early part of 1877 the came to Story county and in October of that year located on the farm which had since been the family home, where the wife finally answered the call of the Master and where the husband still lives.

She is survived by her husband and two daughters. One of the daughters whose husband Walter Hughes recently died at Ruthven, has since been making her home with the parents; while the other daughter, Mrs. Herbert Snyder lives at West Bend. There is also a grandson David Snyder.
