OBITUARY

Mrs. Dan McCarthy

The death of Mrs. Dan McCarthy of Ames on Friday last is a matter of profound regret among friends over the county, and particularly, of course, in the west part of the county, where she has lived from the days of her girlhood. When Mr. and Mrs. McCarthy celebrated their golden wedding a few years ago, it was the first event of that kind in the life of a couple married in Story county and living for all their married life in Story county. Mrs. McCarthy same with her parents to the Squaw creek neighborhood as a girl, married there, lived there, reared her family there, saw the country grow up about her and enjoyed in the city that had come where she had known the bare prairie a peaceful and happy old age. Among her large family of children are Mrs. H. L. Carroll of Des Moines, Mrs. C. G. Lee of Ames, Willard and R. H. McCarthy.
