Services were today at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home for Eugene S. Brodie, 53, 1167 Webster, who died Sunday at a Kansas City Hospital where he had just undergone heart surgery. He was born February 12, 1920 at Cambridge, Iowa and lived in Topeka since 1947 moving here from Des Moines, Iowa.

He was a certified audiologist 11 years in Topeka. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Air Force in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Brodie was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Capitol Post No. 1, American Legion, Forty-and-Eight, Disable American Veterans, Philip Billard Post No. 1650, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the National Assn of Hearing Aid Audiologists.

He was married to Eleanor Batchelor June 12, 1947 at Des Moines. She survives at the home. Other survivors include his mother, Mrs. Isabel Brodie, 1300 Polk, and a sister, Mrs. Helen Lunnon, Topeka.

Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery where VFW Post No. 1650 was in charge of graveside services.
