Murray Gene Shickell was born on June 30, 1940 in Nevada, Iowa to Lloyd Lavern and Eunice (Spivey) Shickell. He passed from this life on May 7, 2013 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 72 years, 10 months and 7 days.

Murray moved to Tulsa area about 10 years ago from Iowa. He worked many years as a custodian for Iowa State University. He was proud to have served his country as a member of the United States Army. He was an avid, fanatical fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and also enjoyed following Iowa State Women's basketball. He also enjoyed reading tabloid magazines. He has a very keen palate and always knew where the best hamburgers could be found. He thoroughly loved Mountain Dew and Butterfingers. He will be remembered much like Will Rogers, as a very good guy that lived everyone else and was an easy friend to all.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 son, Duane Laverne Shickell.

He is survived by 1 son, Aaron Shickell and wife Stephanie, of Mounds, 3 brothers, Keith Shickell and wife Lori, of St. Petersburg, Fl., and Lowell Shickell of Cheyenne, WY. & Mark Shaw and wife Kathy, of Denver, CO, 2 grandchildren; Aaron II & Meghan; his wife, Patricia Shickell, 4 nieces, 1 nephew and many good friends.
