MRS. P. SHELDON DIED ON TUESDAY

ONE OF AMES' BEST KNOWN RESIDENTS PASSED AWAY TUESDAY MORNING FOLLOWING ILLNESS

The many friends of Mrs. Parley Sheldon will learn, with deep regret, her demise at her home in Ames.

Mrs. Sheldon passed away at 8:45 o'clock Tuesday morning at the family home on Douglas Ave., after a final illness of twelve weeks, most of the time spent in great suffering from articular rheumatism. Mrs. Sheldon has suffered more or less acutely for twenty-five years from this disease and her condition since last Christmas day at which time she took to her bed permanently, has been such as to cause great concern to her family. During these weeks she has had faithful and unremitting care at the hands of her daughter, Mrs. Harriet Hammer.

The family life of Mrs. Sheldon has been a part of Ames for forty-one years, six of which were spent on the Sheldon farm south of town and all the remaining time on Douglas Ave. Her home was her great thought and all during her illness, she has been solicitous about household affairs and comforts. One of leading traits of character was fidelity to her friends an charity in judgment of everyone.

Mrs. Sheldon had almost reached the age of seventy-three an had passed the time of her golden wedding by two years. For the past few years she has been confined to her home for weeks at a time but never lost her cheerfulness of spirit and never uttered a word of complaint.

The funeral services were at the family home this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Few immediate relatives are left besides her husband, Parley Sheldon, Ames' leading citizen and banker, their son B. J. Sheldon and daughter, Mrs. E. W. Hammer and her two sons, Bernice and Sheldon Hammer.
