Adam Kinzer Guthrie, son of Aaron and Rebecca Guthrie, was born March 18th, 1850 in Adam county, Ohio and died at McCallsburg, Ia., August 8th 1917 at the age of 67 years, 4 months and 21 days. He was united in marriage with Lavina Dakins in 1875 to which union 7 children were born, one having preceded him in death, those remaining are Solomon W., Anahrum, Benjamin H., Mrs. Mable Nagle [should be Nagel], Mrs. Anna Nelson and Alice. Beside the widow and children he is survived by five sisters, Mrs. J. B. Guston, Mrs. S. O. Kerr of Seaman, Ohio; Mrs. C. H. Wright of Golden City, Mo.; Mrs. Albert Stebbins of Elgin, Neb.; and Mrs. J. B. Couser of Zearing. Mrs. Stebbins and son Willie came about 4 weeks ago to assist in the care of her brother. In young manhood, Mr. Guthrie made a profession of religion and united with the Dunkard church of which he was a faithful member until 1907, when he with his family joined the Presbyterian church of this place and he has been a most faithful member, he was an elder for several years and it was his request on his death bed, a meeting be called and a new elder be put in before his death, which was done. To keep the church going and make it a success ahs been his greatest ambition, his last strength was put into that effort. He will be greatly missed by the whole community. The family have the sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement.
