OBITUARY

Colo people were grieved and shocked to learn of the death of E. J. Carver of Greely, Colorado, which occurred Friday, June 15, 1917. Pneumonia was the cause of death.

Edward J. Carver the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Carver was born at Sycamore, Ill., August 31, 1869. He came with his parents to the Dalton neighborhood south of Colo, when but six months old. March 22, 1892, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary E Smith. Two children were born to them. Mr. Carver spent the greater part of his life in Colo and vicinity. For several years he was proprietor of the Colo drug store. About eight years ago he and his family moved to Colorado, where they have since made their home. Mr. Carver was an esteemed member of the A. F. and A. M., also the O. E. S. He was a kind and devoted husband and father, a good neighbor and a true friend. He leaves to mourn their loss his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Erma Saunders of Boulder, Colo., an a son, Floyd of Greeley, Colo, his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Carver, one brother, Roy Carver of Colo, three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Lambertson of Galesburg, Ill., Mrs. Mae Martin of Colo and Mrs. Ica Cozzens of Clinton, and one little grand-daughter, Ruth Saunders, beside many other relatives and a host of friends. The remains arrived here Sunday night accompanied by the wife and son. Funeral services were held in the M. E. church Tuesday at 10 a. m. conducted by Rev. J. N. McCurdy, who spoke words of comfort form the text, to comfort all that mourn. Found in Isaiah 61:2. The A. F. and A. M. had charge of the services at the grave in the Colo cemetery. Relative present from a distance included the sister from respective homes, Mrs. Bass Key of Beloit, Wis., Miss Florence Carver and Mrs. Lydia Stark of Sycamore, Ill., besides several from near by towns. The sincere sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved ones.
