Aran McWherter

Aran McWherter son of John and Charlotte McWherter was born February 13, 1838 in Marian County, Indiana and died at his home in Collins, Iowa, February 14, 1917 age 79 years and 1 day. He spent his boyhood days in Indiana. In the spring of 1862 he came to Iowa where he was united in marriage to Miss Martha McQuiston. In 1880 he and family went back to Indiana to help care for his father. In 1886 they returned to Iowa where they have spent the last 20 years near Collins and Maxwell. To this union were born ten children, Henry, of Cold Water, Kansas; John, of Ashton, Idaho; David, of Latimer, Mo.; William, of Maxwell, Iowa; Mary, deceased; Wyatt and Elias, of Olds, Alberta; Joseph, of State Center; Viola, of Collins.

The funeral services were held from the M. E. church Saturday afternoon. Rev. Ingelvolstad preached the services and spoke words of comfort to the sorrowing one. The floral tributes were many and beautiful. The Church was filled with the many relatives and friends who had come to pay their last respects to th highly esteemed old gentleman.

Mrs. McWherter was unable to attend the services being confined to her bed with grippe. She is now gaining in strength and her many friend hope to see her around again.
