Passing of Last of Once Prominent Story County Family

Story City, Jan. 29--The death of Miss Anna O. Roe, 77, at the Story City hospital Friday night at 10 o'clock marks the passing of the last of a pioneer family of southeast of Roland--the Ole S. Roe family.

Miss Roe, a sister of the late Ole O. Roe who gained prominence in county and state political affairs and died in Des Moines a few years ago, had been taken to the hospital a few hours before her death, from the home of her niece Mrs. Anna Hunter, with whom she had made her home for the last year and a half.

Uremic poisoning resulting from various complications, was the cause of death.

Funeral arrangements are yet undetermined.

She was a native of Norway, Europe, but came to America with her parents and other members of the family when a girl of four years of age. They settled first in Clinton county and a few years later came to Story county where they located on the old Roe homestead, a few miles south east of Roland.
