Special to the Journal
Maxwell, Sept. 13--About thirty friends and neighbors gathered at the Maxwell cemetery Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 to pay a last tribute to the late George Benedict, 89, who died at his home in Cedar Rapids after a lingering illness of about two years. Mrs. Benedict was the pioneer druggist of Maxwell, having been in business here in the 80's.

He is survived by one daughter, Tola and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Busenbark, who accompanied the body here from their home in Cedar Rapids. Members of the local Masonic lodge were pallbearers, C. B. French, O. F. Strombeck, Wm. Joor and Martin H. Troup. The boy was laid to rest in the family lot beside his wife, Cora, who died May 4, 1890.
