Former Kelley Man Dies at Ames

Special to the Journal:
Kelley, April 13--Jesse O. Nigh, 86, former resident of Kelley for several years, died at the home of his son Jay, in Ames Wednesday, April 4 at 8 p. m. He had been ill for a week following a stroke. Mr. Nigh was born in Campbellsport, Wis., Feb. 25, 1853. He moved to Kelley in 1916 and worked for the Fort Dodge Des Moines and Southern R. R. in the interlocking tower until 1931 when he moved to Ames. For two years he lived with a step-daughter, Mrs. Ora Holdridge [should be Holdredge] and since then with his son Jay. An adopted daughter Vivian of Portland, Ore., another step daughter, Mrs. W. L. Loftus of Dallas, Texas and a brother, Ben, in Wisconsin, survive him. Funeral services were held from the Adams funeral hme in Ames Friday morning at 10 a. m., the Rev. Jack Finnegan of the Church of Christ in charge. Burial was in the Ames cemetery by the side of his wife who died in 1921. Pall bearers were Warney Fuller, L. W. Johnston, Frank Sutter, George Starr.
