Christian Riese Died Wednesday at State Center Home

State Center, Jan. 20--Christian Riese, 76, a resident of Story county for 68 years, died at his home eight miles northwest of State Center, at 11:30 p. m., Wednesday. He had been in failing health for two years, but was bedfast only the past three month. The immediate cause of his death was uremic poisoning.

Christian Riese, son of Martin and Anna Riese, was born in Pennebrooke, Canada, June 1, 1863. At the age of eight years he came to Story county with his parents and settled on a farm eight miles northwest of State Center in Marshall County. On March 25, 1877, he was confirmed and became a member of St. Johns Lutheran church, in which he continued his membership and at times held official positions. June 13, 1884 he married Wilhelmine Schaper and they moved to the farm in Story county, where he lived the rest of his life. His wife died Dec. 21, 1922. Mr. and Mrs. Riese were the parents of six children, Mrs. Amelia Lindeman, Mrs. Celia Eggers and Edgar Riese, of State Center, and Ernest, Martin and Arthur Riese, all of Colo. Besides these there are surviving 21 grand children, also one brother, Mathew Riese of Colo, and Mrs. Martin Mahlow of State Center.

Funeral services will be held at the home at 1 p. m. and at 1:30 p. m. at St. John's Lutheran church, four miles north of State Center, in charge of the pastor, Rev. William J. F. Zazel. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
