Funeral Services for Mrs. Anderson
Special to the Journal.
Slater, Oct. 9 -- Funeral services for Mrs. Ellen Anderson Havick of Beresford, S. D., were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Hauge's Lutheran church. Rev. E. R. Rorem had charge of the services. Beautiful floral offerings covered the casket.Miss Irma Sydness of Huxley sang "Den Store Hvide Flock" and "The End of the Road." Pallbearers were Weir Sydness of Huxley, E. C. Rood, C. R. Sydness, G. T. Eide, H. B. Thompson and N. T. Sydness. Burial was made in the Bethlehem cemetery.
Ellen Amdahl was born at Shold, Haugesund, Norway, June 25, 1858, and died Oct. 3, 1940 at the age of 82 years, at Beresdord, S. D.
Her parents were Torbjorn and Eilie Amdahl. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She came to America when 17 years old, and later married Andrew Anderson in Slater. He passed away in 1917.
She continued to make her home in Slater until 1928, when she was married to Andrew Havick of Harlan, where they made their home until his death in October, 1938. After his death she made her home with a niece, Mrs. John Olson at Centerville, S. D. , and in November, 1939, she went to Beresford, S. D., to make her home at the Bethesda Sunset Home, where she died Oct. 3, 1940.

D.; Mr. and Mrs. Martin Olson and Melvin, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Knutson and son and Mrs. Edwin Knutson of Centerville, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Hanson of Wakonda, S. D., Mr. an Mrs. Harry Heath an Mrs. Lillian Ogle and Miss Emma Johnson of Des Moines and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Sheldahl of Huxley.
