Funeral Services For Henry Moon
Zearing, Oct. 27--A large group of people gathered at St. Gabriel's church October 18 to pay their final respects to H. D. Moon, who had for over 40 years been in business here. Business places were closed during the church services.
Henry Moon was born April 22, 1879 [should be April 22, 1869], at Tipton, Iowa. His parents were William and Hannah Moon. He passed away on Oct. 15, at his home here. His boyhood was spent in Hardin county and he later spent some time in Joliet, Ill.
He met and married Frances Effting at Lockhart, Ill., and three sons blessed this home. They were Bill, of Dayton, Ohio; Frank, and Vernon of Zearing. He also has two brothers, David of Tipton and William of Zearing, and two sisters, Mary Mahoney of Tipton and Mrs. W. J. Dunn of St. Anthony. There are also five grandchildren.
Rev. C. E. Drummy sang the mass and choir was Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Varnum, Mrs. Lester Meimann, Marcella and Carroll Meimann and Barbara Cormody. Mrs. R. J. Pulley was organist. Mrs. Margaret Carmody and Mrs. Carrie Strassburg arranged the flowers. Pallbearers were Wm. Gogerty, Jr., T. Meimann, Russel Deal, Barry Gogerty, Pat Carmody, Harry Dunn.
Among the out of town relatives from a distance attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. John Ryan, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Buettiger, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Ruettiger and son, Mrs. Cliff MacDonald and daughter, all of Joliet, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Ed Effting and son of Chicago, Dave Moon and Mrs. Mary Mahoney of Tipton, Katherine Mahoney of Marshalltown, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Moon and Lute Moon of Lake Crystal, Minn.; Frank Moon, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Moon, Hubbard; Phyliss, Henry, David and John Moon of Hutchinson, Kan., and possibly others from surrounding towns.
