"Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon with a short prayer service at the Erickson funeral home and service at the Bergen Lutheran Church for Rosie Amanda Thorson who passed away Wednesday last week at Clarinda. Harris Twedt sang a solo at the church service of which Rev. A.E. Nelson was in charge. Pallbearers were Otto J. and Elmer Hanson, Otis Johnson, Arthur Britson, Ed Nereim, and Philip Martens. Interment was made in the Roland cemetery.
Rosie Amanda Thorson was born on July 21, 1902, on a farm southeast of Roland to Mary and Thomas Thorson and was baptized in the Lutheran faith September 28, 1902. She was confirmed by Rev. Smedal in May of 1917.
She moved with her parents to Roland in 1904. When she was six years old her parents again move on a farm. That same year her father was injured in a runaway and died Nov. 26, 1910. Her mother then moved back to her residence in the north part of Roland where she attended the local school and grew to womanhood.
She was taken ill in the fall of 1923 and in August 1926 entered the State Hospital at Clarinda, where she passed away Wednesday morning at the age of 44 years, 7 months and 11 days.
Her mother preceded here in death in April 1931. Two sisters and two brothers have also preceded her in death.
She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Christ Hagen of Shell Rock, and Mrs. Maynard Johnson of Roland, as well as four nieces and one nephew."
