Miss Tillie Larson Laid to Rest Friday Afternoon

Slater, Feb. 11: Funeral services for Miss Tillie Larson of Slater were held Friday afternoon. A brief prayer service was held by Rev. P. E. Onstad at the home at 1:30 o'clock. He also sang a solo, "My Faith Looks Up To Thee." At 2 o'clock services were held at the Bethlehem Lutheran church.

The floral offerings were arranged by Mrs. W. H. Schaudt and Mrs. Glenn Peterson. The services were in charge of Rev. Onstad. A large number of gift of money to the Missions, Sunset Home and other organizations were given by relatives and friends in memory of Miss Larson. Rev. Onstad sang a solo, "I'm A Pilgrim." A duet "I Need Thee Every Hour" was sung by Mrs. M. S. Heggen and Mrs. A. L. Peterson.

The pall bearers were as follows: Bert Hokel of Alleman, Irwin Nelson of Sheldahl, Albert Miller of Kelley, Arthur Larson, Tom Erickson and Sanford Sydnes of Huxley.

Burial was made in the Palestine cemetery near Cambridge by the side of her parents.

Tillie Serena Larson was born July 15, 1889 on a farm near the Palestine church and died at her home in Slater, Monday night February 3rd from complications of the heart at the age of 57 years, 6 months and 20 days. Her health had been failing the past year. She was the daughter of the late Lewis and Anna Larson. She was baptized by Rev. H. C. Holm and confirmed by Rev. H. J. Holman. As a young girl she was employed in Des Moines for several years. Following the death of her father, the family moved to Slater in 1900.

In 1925 she returned to Slater to care for her mother who was failing in health. After the death of her mother she made her home with her brother Burton until her death. She was active in church work and always took an interest in the affairs of the community. She was a devoted sister and a loyal friend.

She is survived by two brothers Burton Larson of Slater and Austin Larson of St. Paul, Minn. and a nephew Boyd Allen Larson of Story City and a large number of relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Clarence Larson.

Among those from a distance who attended the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Austin Larson of St. Paul, Minn., Mrs. Kathryn Boyd Larson and son Allan Boyd of Story City, Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Larson and daughter, Miss Jeanetta Larson and Rev. and Mrs. Louis Malmin of Nevada, Bert Hokel of Alleman and Eugene Hokel of Ankeny.
