THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, July 14, 2005.

Bette J. Skola, 80, of Ames, died Tuesday, July 12, at Israel Family Hospice House. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 15, at Ascension Lutheran Church. The body has been cremated.

Betty J. Skola was born June 16, 1925, in Pocahontas County, the daughter of Earl and Sudie (Crain) Colee. She graduated from Pocahontas High School. She married Hugo Jepsen May 12, 1949. He preceded her in death. She married Donald Skola July 6, 1968. She moved to Ames in 1965. She worked as a manager of Story County Credit Bureau and was owner of Ames Answering Service. She retired in 1981. She was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary and Women of the Moose. She loved canning, making V-8 juice, making jams and her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Don; one daughter, Jane (Eldon) Graaf of Rogers, Ark.; one son, Randy (Diane) Jepsen of Ames; four grandchildren, Emily Jepsen, Jerry Graff, Janell Graff-Williams and John Graff; one great-grandson, Jesse Graff; two sisters, Dorothy Travis of Browerville, Minn., and Kathryn Patterson of Janesville, Wis.; and one brother, Keith (Carol) Colee of Blooming Prairie, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Hugo; two sisters, Erma Hughes and Evelyn Anderson; and two brothers, Donald and Stanley Colee.

Adams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
