Artery Bursts; Causes Death
Norman Corneliussen Dies at Story City; Had Been in the West
Norman Corneliussen, who had just returned from a winter's sojourn in California with his father, died at Story City Tuesday afternoon. The young man had gone to Lake Comar to see his cousin, Fred Corneliussen, for whom he intended to work during the summer, when stricken. Death resulted from the bursting of a heart artery. He had been affected with leakage of the heart for some time past.
Deceased and his friend, Rufus Hoon, of Ames, went to Lake Comar Sunday afternoon. While there Norman complained of sharp pains in his chest and medical aid was obtained immediately. He passed thru the night in good shape and felt better in the morning. Tuesday afternoon, however, the pains came with renewed vigor and caused his death.
The family of Mr. Corneliussen resides at Maderia, Calif., where they went a short time ago to make their permanent home. The news of the death of the son comes to them as a distinct shock.
The young man had been graduated from Ames high school with the class of 1919. All thru his schooling there he was considered one of the highest type of young man, and a splendid athlete, both in track and football team. When he left Ames high he took with him a scholarship for commendable work in his studies, and had intended to start in his freshman year at Leland Stanford university.
C. Corneliussen, the father of the deceased, is on his way to Story City from Maderia, Calif. Two sisters and one brother of the boy are also coming with their father to be present at the funeral, which is to take place at Story City Saturday afternoon. The mother died some time ago.
