Obituary

Colo people were shocked and grieved when it was learned that Miss Mabel Webb had passed away at the sanitarium in Nevada Monday night. Mabel Irene, daughter of MR. and Mrs. James Webb, was born near Colo, March 27 1900, and died at the Iowa Sanitarium in Nevada July 12, 1920, aged 20 years, 3 months and 15 days. In 1912 her father died, which was the first real sorrow in her young life. Her kind hearted, open, generous nature helped her to win a wide circle of friends. About three years ago she united with the Christian church in Nevada. She has been employed in Nevada the most the time for about three years, but she often came to Colo to visit her relatives and friends. She had not been very well for some time, but became much worse quite suddenly and was taken to the sanitarium about a week ago. Her suffering was very severe, but she bore it bravely All that skill and kindness could co, was done for her relief, but to no avail. Monday evening, an operation was performed with the hope of saving her life, but conditions were such that nothing could save her and she passed away soon after the operation. Her mother arrived about a half hour later. She leaves to mourn their loss, her mother an step-father, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Etnire of Sheffield, one brother, Glenn Webb, of Colo; two sisters, Hazel Webb, of Nevada, and Lucile, of Zearing; a half-sister and half-brother, Dartle and Ronald [should be Donald] Etnire, of Sheffield; her grandfather and grandmother Webb of Colo, besides other relatives and host of friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the Colo M. E. church, conducted by Rev. E. J. Laird, assisted by Rev. M. C. Miller. Interment was made in the Colo cemetery beside her father. Sincere sympathy is extended to the bereaved ones.
