OBITUARY

J. W. Hardin, a resident of this place, was stricken with apoplexy, Monday about 10:30, fell, and died in a few minutes. He was in the meat market he had previously sold. He had been in unusually good health and spirits for him the preceding week. Although he had not been well for a long time he had just sold out his interest here in the meat market and restaurant preparatory to leaving town. Just about a half hour before he was stricken he had said he wasn't going into any business this summer, but was going to California and have a vacation. He has lived here all his life with the exception of a short time in Des Moines and a few other towns. He was the eldest son of Mr. and and Mrs. Wm. Hardin and was born Nov. 29, 1886, near Steamboat Rock in Hardin county. Later they moved south of town here into what is known as the old Hardin place. Deceased was married to Miss Mary Bounds [should be Round] and to this union two daughters were born, May, who died in infancy, and Irene who makes her home with her mother in Des Moines. He is also survived by his brother, Guy, who lived in Nevada, father having passed away a good many years ago, and his mother a year ago, Feb. 14th. Funeral services were held at Nevada Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock from Memorial Lutheran church, Rev. J. N. Swihart having charge. Interment was made in the Nevada cemetery where his daughter and parents are buried. Quite a number from here attended the funeral. The pall bearers were W. H. Reid, Andrew Schauper, E. O. Dillin, Bert Baumgardner and Allen Baumgardner and A. C. Hanson.. The sympathy of the community is extended to the daughter and brother and family.
