OBITUARY

Mr. Wm. Houser was born in Union Co., Penn., Sept 18, 1836 was the eldest of a family of 10 children. He departed this life Sunday evening at 7 o'clock on Jan. 4, 1820 at the home of his daughter Mrs. Eliza Perry of Winnebago, Minn. 60 years ago Monday, Jan. 5, he was united in marriage to Virginia Elinor Waddell of Richland Center, Wis. She being called home Aug. 6, 1818 at her home in Lyons, Colorado, ending a period of 58 years and 7 months together. To this union of love were born 7 children, 2 having passed away in infancy. The others Sarah Eliza Perry of Winnebago, Minn., Cora May Hess, Lyons, Colorado, Mattie Dealia Gilger, Lyons, Colorado, Myrtle Elma Shaw of Cedar Rapids, Ia., and O. C. Houser of Portland, Oregon, 2 brothers in Lena, Ill., one brother in Chicago, 1 sister in Puyallup, Wash., and Mrs. Sarah Bruner of this place, 17 grandchildren and 20 grand children beside a host of other relatives and friends are left to mourn his loss. When a child he moved from Penn to Stevenson Co., Ill., where he resided until 1877. He came to Colo residing here about 31 years. He moved to Lyons, Colorado in 1908. Since the burial of his good wife he has lived with his daughter Mrs. Eliza Perry of Winnebago, Minn., where he passed away after an illness of 11 weeks. He first was taken with a bad cold and worked upward until death ended his suffering. He was converted at a Methodist revival meeting at the age of 15 years and has since remained a faithful worker and member of Methodist church.
