MRS. NEREIM DIED LAST WEEK

Mrs. Martin Nereim passed away at her home at 7:00 o'clock Thursday evening after a long illness due to old age infirmities.

Mrs. Martin Nereim, whose maiden name was Osa Wicks, was born January 16, 1856, in Norway, and died at Roland December 17, 1931, at the age of 75 years and 11 months.

She came to America in 1874 and lived in Illinois for a number of years. On September 8, 1880, she was married to Martin Nereim at Morris, Ill. They made their home in Illinois until 1887, when they moved to Iowa and have since resided in and near Roland.

Nine children were born to them, all of whom survive with the exception of one daughter, Mrs. Nettie Durby, who died July 28, 1931. She is survived by her husband and the following children: Mrs. Susan Hill, Mrs. Clara Cole and Mrs. Tena Millang, of Roland; Ingemore Nereim of Belview, Minn., Mrs. Julia Hanson of Mankato, Minn.; Mrs. Ada Millang of Randall; Mrs. Minelva Lura of Marshalltown, and Gerhard Nereim of Story City.

She is also survived by 37 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, and a brother, Nels T. Wicks, of this place.

Mr. and Mrs. Nereim celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at Salem church in Roland on August 31, 1930.

The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the residence and at Salem church, Rev. Olaf Holen officiating. Interment was made in the Roland cemetery.

The pall bearers were grandsons of the deceased, Joseph, Morris and Juel Hill, Arnold and Ernest Cole, and Hermes Millang.

Those from a distance in attendance at the funeral besides the family were Mr. and Mrs. C . A. Lindroth, Miss Lucille Durby, and Ingemore Iverson of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Thor Nerem and Mr. and Mrs. Sam Nerem of Forest City; Mr. and Mrs. Torres Nerem, Mr. and Mrs. John Oppedal, Mr. and Mrs. Imbert Millang, and Mr. and Mrs. John Millang of Story City.
