Thomas Elliott Died at Rhodes Recently
Special to the Journal.
Collins, Sept. 2--Collins friends were grieved to hear the death Saturday evening, Aug. 29, of Thomas Elliott, 69, at Rhodes eight years ago. Mr. Elliott was born Jan. 19, 1862 and raised on the Elliott homestead east of Collins. He was married to Ida Belle Castleman of Baxter and to this union eleven children were born: Charles, Guy, Wesley, Fred, Leon, Earl, Donald, Victor, Mrs. Mable Blink, Mrs. Florence Church, Bessie and a step-son, Will Jennings of Corwith. He is survived by his wife, all of his children nd 22 grandchildren, a sister Mrs. Mary Holtsclaw of Missouri, and 2 brothers Wm. Elliott of Missouri and Frank Elliott of Webster City.The children were all present at the funeral which was held in the M. P. church at Rhodes Monday forenoon at 11:00, with the exception of Leon who lives in Canada and unable to be there. Interment was in the Day cemetery east of Collins by the side of his father and mother.
