PIONEER FARMER DEAD AT COLLINS

WESLEY BITTNER VICTIM OF APPENDICITIS, DIED IN HOSPITAL

Special to the Journal.
Collins, August 19--Wesley W. Bittner, 56, who has lived on a farm south of Collins in Jasper county nearly all his life, died early Tuesday morning at Mercy hospital, Des Moines, after an attack of appendicitis.

The funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:30 at the Brethren church south of Collins, with Dan W. Wise of Fernald in charge.

Mr. Bittner was born in Jasper county, January 2, 1875, a son of Chauncey and Rachael Bittner.

He was married to Julia Barr [should be Parr], December 25, 1898 and two children were born to them, they being Cecil Bittner of Collins and Mrs. Gladys Thompson of Mingo.

Besides the wife and two children, he leaves two grandsons and a brother, Ira Bittner of Minnesota.
