ZEARING WOMAN CALLED BY DEATH
MRS. L. H. NORTON DIED TUESDAY AFTER ILLNESS OF A WEEK
Special to the Journal.
Zearing, Jan. 28--Mrs. L. H. Norton, 72, died at her home early Tuesday morning, the cause of death being pneumonia and other complications. Mrs. Norton had been in poor health for some time and a few weeks ago suffered a severe illness but had recovered and was able to be up around and doing a prat of her house work. However a week ago she took a severe cold, pneumonia developed and she had been under the constant care of a nurse since Thursday.Hattie Frank-Norton who was seventy-two years old, was born in New York City and when a child moved with her parents to Earlville, Illinois, where she lived until after her marriage to Levi H. Norton.
Thirty six years ago Mr. and Mrs. Norton and children came to Story county and made their home on a farm two miles west and north of Zearing. After a few years on the farm they moved to Zearing where they have since resided. Mrs. Norton will be greatly missed from the church and social activities in which she took part and was an ardent worker.
September 9, 1930 Mr. and Mrs. Norton celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
Mrs. Norton is survived by the husband and three daughters, Mrs. Celia Cameron of Ames, Mrs. Dora Cerka of Zearing and Mrs. Muriel Schuler of Bancroft, ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. She also leaves four sisters and two brothers who are, Mrs. Amanda Norton of Zearing, Mrs. Laura Nehr, Mrs. Lester Schwanz and August Frank of Aurora, Illinois, Mrs. Cruise of Ottawa, Illinois and Fred Frank of Hammond, Indiana.
Funeral service will be held Thursday afternoon. At this time the place has not been decided upon. Interment will be at the Zearing cemetery.
