Gross Interment a Masonic Affair
Special to the Journal.
Colo, June 30--The body of the late Edwin Gross, 75, Colo pioneer, who died at his home here June 24, was laid to rest in the Colo cemetery Sunday afternoon under the ritualistic ceremonies of the Masonic lodge, of which he was a longtime member.Edwin Gross, born in Foreston, Ill., Feb. 7, 1860, moved to Colo, Iowa, at the age of eight years, where he spent most of his life. A member of the Masonic lodge for nearly forty-nine years and a charter member of Isabelle chapter Eastern Star. He was married to Esther Thurston, April 23, 1884. To this union two sons were born, Alvah and Randol of Colo. He also leaves two grandsons and two sisters, Mrs. M. S. Nelson of Lanark, Ill., and Mrs. Minnie Cook of Denver, Colorado and many other relatives and friends.
Most of his early life he was engaged in farming and later employed by the Northwestern railroad for 12 years.
He was a kind and loving husband and father, always thinking of others before himself, holding the friendships of those he met. He will be greatly missed by all.
