Nelson Funeral Held Thursday
Special to the Journal.
Slater, Jan. 2--Funeral services for Mrs. P. L. Nelson were held Thursday afternoon. Services at the home at 1:30 o'clock and at the Bethlehem church at two o'clock. The services were in charge of her pastor, Rev. E. R. Rorem. Many beautiful flowers were placed by the casket.The Bethlehem ladies aid gave a sum of money to the missions in memory of Mrs. Nelson. The pall bearers were Herman, Bernice and Emmet Holland; Barney, Clarence and Jerome Hill. The men's chorus sang "Nearer to Thee" and "The Old Rugged Cross." A duet, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" was sung by Mrs. M. S. Heggen and Mrs. A. L. Peterson.
Christina Holland was born August 5th, 1873 an died Monday, December 28, 1931 at the age of 58 years, 4 months and 23 days. Her marriage to P. L. Nelson took place October 6th, 1897. Three children were born to this union.
She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, one son, Lester A. Nelson and two daughters, Mrs. Leona Moore of Slater and Mrs. Virginia Torgerson of Peoria, Ill., one brother, Reinert Holland of Kelley, three sisters, Mrs. Isabelle Hill of Huxley, Mrs. Emma Elliott of Peoria, Ill., and Mrs. Bertha Kendrick of Saskatchewan, Canada, besides numerous relatives and friends. Burial was made in the Bethlehem cemetery.
