JAY BARTINE PASSED AWAY AFTER A LINGERING ILLNESS.
Special to the Journal.
Zearing, Sept. 6--Jay D. Bartine, 32, well known resident of Zearing died at his home east of here Tuesday evening at 9:00 after a lingering illness. The deceased was born at St. Anthony, east of here in Marshall county, November 12, 1900. He grew to young manhood in that community, graduating from the St. Anthony high school. He was associated with his father in the mercantile business, at St. Anthony and later at Ames and Zearing. He came to Zearing about four years ago and had lived there since with the exception of short intervals spent in California.
He was married February 12, 1923, to Miss Vera Holcomb, who survives him, together with his parents Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Bartine and a sister Barbara, all of Zearing and a brother Russel Bartine of Corona, California.
Word has been received from the latter that he will not be able to be here for the funeral and while no definite arrangements have been made, it is probable that the service will be held Friday at the Zearing Church of Christ.
