NEVADA WOMAN DIED ON SUNDAY

FUNERAL OF KATIE CRANE WILL BE HELD HERE TUESDAY

Miss Katie Crane, 64, died at her apartments on Main Street, Nevada, Sunday about noon after a lingering illness, several weeks of which she had been cared for at Iowa sanitarium.

The funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 from the Methodist church, of which she was a longtime and most devoted member, in charge of her pastor, George A. Lawton. Interment will be in the Nevada cemetery.

Katie Diana Crane was a daughter of James and Margaret Crane, born in Hancock county, Iowa, May 29, 1869. She came with her people to Story county as a girl and had been a resident of near or in Nevada for nearly fifty years.

There were 8 children children in the family--four brother and four sisters. Three of each had passed away leaving but Katie and R. D., the latter of Hampton, during later years. With the death of the sister R. D. Crane is now the sole survivor.

After the passing of the parents and other members of the family had left the community she continued her home here, was industrious and frugal in her habits and managed to keep herself in comfort and give her portion toward her church and other causes in which she was interested, besides laying away a small competence.

During recent years she had lost come of her small savings and other were tied up in securities hard to realize upon.

In spite of her misfortunes she was uncomplaining and kept on at her task until illness made it impossible for her longer to care for herself.

She was well known about the city, admired and respected for her many splendid qualities and characteristics and she will be most kindly remembered by a wide circle of old friends.

The only brother, R. D. Crane, with his wife came down from Hampton Sunday afternoon, called here by the death of the sister.
