JOHN DEAL DEAD NEAR ZEARING

HAD LIVED IN NEIGHBORHOOD FOR PAST FORTY-FIVE YEARS

Special to the Journal.
Zearing, May 15--John Deal, 79, of Zearing, passed away at his home east of here Sunday evening about 6:30 death being due to old age and complications.

The body is al the Brouhard Funeral Home and will remain there until Tuesday and will remain there until Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 at which time it will be taken to the Evangelical church for services. Burial will be in the cemetery at Clemons by the side of his wife.

He was born December 15, 1853, in Mercer county, Ohio. He came to Marshall county with his parents in 1865.

When a young man he united with the Methodist church. At that time they were having church in the Stough school house. Later he transferred his membership to the Methodist church at St. Anthony, when the town was established and a church was organized.

In January 1874 he was united in marriage to Mary Alice Spence. They made their home in Minerva township, Marshall county until about 45 years ago at which time he and his family moved to their present farm in Story county, where he passed away.

His wife died April 18, 1925. He is survived by four children: Wesley Allen, Arthur, Edgar, Mrs. Eula McBride, all who reside near Zearing; three brothers, Wesley of Zearing; Monroe of Des Moines; Mack of Trenton, N. J.; four sisters, Mrs. Joseph Springer of Zearing; Mrs. Maria Smith of Ames; Mrs. J. J. Bryant of Frederick, Wis.; Mrs. W. J. Irvin of Portland, Ore. One brother and one sister preceded him in death.
