Shalley Funeral Sunday Afternoon; Interment Here

Funeral services for the Sarah Ann Shalley, 89, widow of the late George Shalley, who died at the home of her daughters, Mrs. C. E. Melohn, Fifth and M avenue, Friday, April 21, were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30, at the Nevada Church of Christ, with Rev. Kinser in charge. Interment was in the Nevada cemetery.

The services were attended by a large group of relatives and old time neighbors and friends. Mrs. Shalley had been a resident of Story county for forty years, the last half or more of which had been in Nevada. Mr. Shalley died eleven years ago.

Mrs. Shalley, known in her girlhood days as Sarah Ann Kepford, was born in West Fairview, Penn., April 2, 1853. There she grew to womanhood and united in marriage to George W. Shalley of Fairview on March 11, 1874.

To this union were born 8 children. Four of them and Mr. Shalley have preceded her in death.

Mr. and Mrs. Shalley made their home following their marriage in Fairview until 1893 when they moved to Story county. Here they made their home until August 6, 1921 when Mr. Shalley passed to the great beyond. For the past number of years she has made her home with her daughter Mrs. Lizzie Melohn and died at the age of 89 years and 19 days.

She leaves to mourn four children, Miss Anna Shalley, Mrs. C. E. Melohn and Fred Shalley of Nevada and Sam Shalley of Bruce, South Dakota; 18 grand children and 12 great grandchildren besides many friends and relatives.

For the past number of years Mrs. Shalley has been a member of the Church of Christ.
