Services March 29 For Mrs. John Lee

Funeral services for Mrs. John Lee were conducted from the Larson-Peterson Funeral home at Story City on Thursday afternoon, March 29, at 1:30 and from the Immanuel Lutheran church at 2 o'clock. The Rev. A. O. Skibsrud officiated.

Special music consisted of presentations by Lillian and Olive Alsager and Rev. Skibsrud with Mrs. Arvie Jacobson accompanying.

Casket bearers were her six grandsons, Glen Carpenter, and Herman Lee of Iowa Falls, John, Orville and Lloyd Lee of Eldora and Charles Erickson of Roland. Burial was in the Story City cemetery.

Born in Story City

Mrs. John Lee was born in Story City on Dec.6, 1882, a daughter of Jonas A. Travaas and Barbara Severeid. She was baptized Clara Christian in the Lutheran church in which she later was confirmed and remained a faithful member the rest of her life.

At 11 years of age, she was taken into the home of the late Mr. and Mrs. S. K. Larson and remained there until her marriage to Lewis Erickson on June 23, 1904. To this union were born four children, Gifford, Jasper and Lloyd, all of Story city and Anna, Mrs. Kermit Carlson of Avoca.

Married John Lee

Mr. Erickson died in 1924, and April of 1932, she was united in marriage to John Lee of Story City. Mrs. Lee died Monday afternoon, March 26, at the age of 68 years, three months and 19 days.

She is survived by her husband and four children, together with two stepchildren, George Lee of Eldora and Jessie, Mrs. Ben Berchtold of Story City, seven grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are her brother, Arnie Travase of Story City, one half brother, Jonas Travase of Huxley, and two step-sisters, Mrs. Andrew Carlson and Mrs. Lydian Malmanger of Des Moines.
