Funeral Services for Mrs. Eunice Tight
Special to the Journal.
Zearing, Nov. 30--Funeral services were held Friday afternoon for Mrs. Eunice Abbott Tight, 91, with prayer service at her home in Zearing and services at the Christian church in St. Anthony in charge of Rev. Bacon of Marshalltown.The beautiful floral offerings were cared for by Mrs. Dennis Jeffries of Alden, Mrs. Herbert Bakka of Roland, Miss Hazel Tight of Zearing, Miss Barbara Davenport and Miss Ilene Tight of Marshalltown, grand daughters of the deceased. The pall bearers were Leo Mosteller of Zearing, Leslie Mooney of Clemons, Ralph Davenport of Marshalltown, Herbert Bakka of Roland, Dennis Jeffries of Alden, grandsons and Harry Dunn. Burial was in Illinois Grove cemetery by the side of the husband.
Music was furnished by a mixed quartet, Gilbert Womeldortt, Mrs. Jerry Hankins, Mrs. Harry Ma--- and Glen McBride accompanied by Miss Ann- Fr--- at the piano
Mrs. Tight was born Eunice W. Abbott June 7, 1844 in Muskinghum county, Ohio and was the eldest daughter of John and Liza Abbott. She was the last surviving member of the immediate family.
In 1865 she came to Iowa with her parents who located in the Illinois Grove vicinity and October 5, 1867, she was married G. Anson Tight. They made their home on a farm four miles north of St. Anthony and upon retiring moved into the town of St. Anthony where her husband passed away on January 16, 1927.
Then about two years ago she came to Zearing where she has since made her home. In September she went to Marshalltown to visit her daughter, Mrs. Carl Davenport at whose home she passed away Nov. 19, 1935 at 12:45 P. M. All the surviving children were with her during her last illness.
She is survived by three sons, George of Marshalltown, Ralph of St. Anthony, Charles of Zearing and four daughters, Mrs. Vinnie Mooney of Clemons, Mrs. Annie Davenport of Marshalltown, Mrs. Cora Mosteller and Ollie of Zearing, the latter having cared for her mother since her father's death.
The first child, a son, born to Mr. and Mrs. Tight passed away in infancy and another son, Wilbur, passed away December 26, 1934.
She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Tight united with the Methodist church at an early age. She was deeply loved and admired by all who enjoyed her acquaintance.

Rankin, Nevada, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Davenport, Barbara and Ralph, Mr. and Mrs. George Tight, Marshalltown, Mrs. Vinnie Mooney and Leslie, Clemons, Mrs. J. W. Tight, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Jeffries, Alden, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Bakka, Roland, L. Chance and sister Meda of Sheffield, Mrs. June Rash, New Providence, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Harlan, Nevada, Mr .and Mrs. Frank Fish, State Center.
