FOUR STORY CITY FAMILIES GRIEVE
WM. SPENCER, PIONEER, DIED THERE LATE SATURDAY AFTERNOON
Special to the Journal:
Story City, Oct. 14--William Spencer, 73, longtime resident of this community, died at his home in the south part of town Saturday afternoon.Mr. Spencer leaves a wife and two children, they being a son Dan of St. Paul and a daughter Mrs. C. L. Sander of Graettinger. He also leaves one granddaughter Mrs. Elaine Bandanacher of St. Paul.
Funeral services will be held at the Evangelical church here Wednesday at two A. M. and interment will be at the South St. Petri cemetery, with Rev. Bergeman in charge.
He was born in Illinois but came to Iowa with his people when but two years of age and family home was established in the Pleasant Grove neighborhood.
He was married to Hattie Williamson December 2, 1888 and had lived in Story City for thirty-three years. Much of this time he had worked as a machinist.
Besides the wife, son and daughter, he leaves two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. There are also three sisters, Mrs. Charles Harrison of Willowbrook, California, Mrs. Clara Ellison of Nevada, and Mrs. Dave Harrison of Trenton, Neb.
