Funeral Services Held at Huxley for Lena Lande
Special to the Journal.
Huxley, Aug. 2 -- Funeral services for Lena Lande were held at the Fjeldberg church Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock following a prayer service at her farm home southeast of Huxley. Mrs. T. H. Mason and Mrs. Sam Barnes sang as a duet a favorite Norwegian hymn during the services at the home.Rev. Perry Sampson was in charge of the services at the church, which opened by singing a hymn, "I Know of a Sleep in Jesus' Name." After scripture reading and prayer by the pastor, Mrs. I. D. Sampson shoe for his text the 13th verse in the 14th chapter of Revelation: "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors, and their works do follow them."
Miss Lande was a devout Christian and her life was one of loving service to different members of her family through many years of affliction. She endured her own trials with untold patience and was always thankful to kind relatives who tried to make her more comfortable during her long illness.
After the sermon, Weir Birkestrand, Jr. sang solo, "Safe in the Arms of Jesus."
Mrs. Albert Johnson and Mrs. Andrew Wenos arranged the beautiful offerings which paid silent tribute to a dear one who had passed on.
