DEATHS

JOHN A. ERICKSON

Funeral services for John A. Erickson were held Monday at 2 p.m. from the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cambridge with the Rev. Victor A. Fiskerbeck officiating.

Music was furnished by Mrs. D. E. Ryerson, Mrs. Alex Egeland and Mrs. Leo Miller.

Mrs. Dennis Ingram and Mrs. Thelma Bailey had charge of the flowers.

Casket bearers were Arlo Erickson, Orin Erickson, Kenneth Lewis, Stanford Lewis, Robert Erickson and Norman Erickson.

Honorary casket bearers were thirteen men on the Board of Directors of the United Mutual Insurance Association.

Burial was in the Cambridge cemetery.

John A. Erickson, life-long resident of the Cambridge community, died at the Iowa Lutheran hospital in Des Moines on June 5, 1970 at the age of 79 years.

He was born at Cambridge, the son of Erick and Ina Erickson, and lived his entire life in this community. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church and was an active member all his life.

In 1915, he was united in marriage to Gunda Lewis. To this union were born two sons, Irwin and Howard, and two daughters, Marie and Ruth.

He spent his entire life farming and was in the insurance business.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers and one sister.

He is survived by his wife Gunda; two sons, Irwin and Howard of Cambridge; two daughters (Marie) Mrs. Gayle Lee of Cambridge, and (Ruth) Mrs. John Ennor of Cedar Falls. Also surviving are one brother Kermit Erickson of Slater, 10 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

He was a faithful member of Nazareth Lutheran Church, serving in various capacities on the church board. He also taught the men's Sunday School class and was a good worker with the Lutheran Helping Hand Organization.
