LARSON FUNERAL TO BE THURSDAY
SERVICE AT STORY CITY IMMANUAL CHURCH, BURIAL AT NEVADA
Special to the Journal.
Story City, Aug. 14--Funeral services for J. G. Larson, 69, who died very suddenly at his home here Monday evening at 7:00, will be held Thursday.There will be a brief service at the home preceding the funeral at Immanual Lutheran church at 2:00, with Rev. T. T. Heimarck in charge. Burial will be in the Nevada cemetery.
Mr. Larson was a contracting carpenter and for years had specialized in the construction of grain elevators. Continuing in this work for many years he had been compelled to retire from active work about three years ago because of indifferent health.
Death came as a surprise however, resulting from a heart attack while he was seated with the family in the home after the supper hour Monday evening.
Mr. Larson was a native of Norway, Europe, where he was born 69 years ago. He came to America with his family when a lad of nine years. They camet first to Nevada and from there to Roland and the father, Gunder Larson, located with his family on a farm near Roland and here the young man grew to manhood. Later the father purchased a farm near Radcliffe, in Hardin county and this became the family homestead.
It was 44 years ago at Eagle Grove that he was united in marriage the Anna C. Johnson, who survives him. Establishing their first home at Eagle Grove, they made many changes for some years because of his work taking him from place to place.
Nineteen years ago the family located at Story City and this had since remained their permanent home.
Mr. Larson leaves besides his wife, three daughters and two sons. The daughters are Mrs. Ethel Dillin, wife of E. O. Dillin of Nevada, Ruby Larson of Story City and Mrs. Irene Smith of Osage. The sons are Grant of Tucson, Arizona and Milton of Story City. Twin sons died at birth and a daughter died at the age of 11 months.
He also leaves two sisters Mrs. Hilmer Harris of Hubbard and Emma Larson of Minneapolis and two brothers, Lewis M. Larson of Radcliffe and Isaac Larson of Radcliffe. The one grandchild in Nadna --- Larson of Tucson, Arizona. The stepmother, Mrs. Ellen Larson is also living her home being at Roland. Two sisters are dead, they being Mrs. Tom Sime who died at Fairmont, Minn. two years ago and Mrs. Cornel--- ---son who died in North Dakota several years ago.
