Funeral Services at State Center for Ira H. Foster
Funeral services for the late Ira Hanson Foster, 81, a long time resident of the southeast Colo vicinity, was held at the church of the Associated Churches in State Center, Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock.
The last rites were in charge of Rev. William Roberts. To songs "Rock of Ages" and "Going Down the Valley" were sung during the service and "Goin' Home" was played as the congregation left the church.
The pall bearers included Cliss McMahon, Fred Dobbin, John Donnelly, Wm. Schnur, Louis Walters and Wm. Swinback. The services were attended by a number of relatives and old time friends from Colo, Collins, Story City and State Center.
Ira Hanson Foster was born in Nedino, Mich., May 15, 1853 and passed away in the hospital in Montrose, Colorado, Dec. 29, 1934 following a surgical operation.
He came to Iowa in 1871 locating in the Colo-State center community. He worked at first upon the railroad. On May 15, 1882 he was united in marriage to Miss Eva M. Robb of State Center. They lived on a farm southeast of Colo. Mrs. Foster died in 1887.
Mr. Foster went to Paradox, Colo. in 1905 where he homesteaded.
He is survived by his son Wilton S. Foster of Paradox, Colo., and a daughter Mrs. Ethelyn M. Geer of Coudersport, Pa.
He is the grandfathers of Mrs. H. E. Wright of 1228 Fourth street, Nevada.
