COLLINS MAN DIED LAST NIGHT

H. E. WELD PASSED AWAY AT IOWA LUTHERAN HOSPITAL IN DES MOINES

Special to the Journal.
Collins, Nov. 17--INS--Homer E. Weld, 73, died at the Iowa Lutheran hospital in Des Moines Friday afternoon at 3:30, after an illness of some days.

Mr. Weld, father of H. E. Weld, local druggist, had lived in Collins for the past five years and was well known here.

He was born March 9, 1861, in Clearfield county, Pennsylvania, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Weld, being the youngest of nine children.

He came with the family out to Iowa when they settled near Kellogg in Jasper county, in 1867. There he grew to manhood and graduated from the academy in Newton and later from the law school at the Iowa university.

He was united in marriage in June, 1888 to Jennie E. Little and their one child was H. Erland Weld, with whom the father has spent the declining years of his life.

The family home had been at various times in Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska and Colorado.

The wife died while the family was living at Richland, in 1914. Since the death of the wife his home had been with the son for the past 5 years in Collins where he was associated with the son in the drug business.

He leaves besides his one son, grandchildren John and Genevieve; sisters Lavina Weld of Loveland, Calif., and Mrs. Agnes Sproal of Osborn, Kansas; a brother W. G. Weld of Virginia City, Virginia and other relatives.

He was a member of the Friends church and was long an active member of the Odd Fellows and Modern Woodmen lodges.

While no funeral arrangements have been made as yet it is probable that the services will be held Monday and that interment will be in the cemetery at Richland, by the side of the wife.
