Funeral Service for Hactor Egemo

Huxley, Aug. 29--Funeral services for Hactor Egemo, 84, who passed away at the home of his daughter Mrs. Laurence Helland on Wednesday night, were held on Saturday afternoon with Rev. Peder Buland in charge. There was a brief service at the house at 1:30 p. m. At the service at the church the hymn "I know of a sleep in Jesus name" was sung by Miss Margaret Fritz of Slater after which Rev. Buland spoke in both the Norwegian and English language from the book of Job. A quartet consisting of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Richardson, Mrs. Roy Elliott and Walter Christopher sang a Norwegian song "Skai vi motes hist ved floden" and Miss Gladys Tweedt sang "Good night here but good morning up there."Hactor Egemo was born April 12, 1850 in Skaanevik Prestegjeld, Norway. His parents were Lars and Gurie Egemo. He was united in marriage July 6, 1883 to Gunhield Elgevik. To this union eight children were born of which four have preceded him in death. Besides his wife he leaves four children, Wier Egemo of Kanawha, Lewis Egemo of Cylinder, Mrs. Rachel Nerness of Kelley and Mrs. Martha Helland of Huxley. There are also two sisters in Norway and one brother Sam Egemo at Story City. He also leaves 21 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. For the past year he has been bedfast at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Helland near Huxley.
Mr. Egemo passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 1934 at the age of 84 years, 4 months and 10 days. Blessed be his memory.
