Mrs. John V. Fry Was Laid to Rest Friday Afternoon

[Mrs. John] V. Fry, who died at her home 1702 Eighth street Tuesday evening after a week's illness, were held Friday afternoon at Memorial Lutheran church, after which interment was in the Nevada cemetery.

The service was in charge of her pastor Dr. J. O. Simon and in the church where she has been a constant worshipper for many years.

The church was well filled with relatives and old neighbor and friends gathered to pay a final tribute of love and respect to this good pioneer woman, who had lived the over 70 years of life in or near Nevada.

Ida May Kelley, daughter of William and Mary Kelley, early pioneer settlers of Richland township, Story county, was born in Richland township on Aug. 15, 1863 and died at her home in Nevada, May 8, 1934 having reached the age of 70 years, 8 month and 23 days.

She was one of 8 children, five sisters and the brothers. Two of the brothers survive and both were here for the funeral.

On Feb. 5, 1882 she was united in marriage to John V. Fry. To this union three children were born they being Ross and Clarence of Nevada an Mrs. James Bryant of north of Nevada. She also raised one grandson, Mervin Fry. Besides these she leaves to mourn her death 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers, Nathan Kelley of Fairmont, Minn., and Jacob Kelley of Swea City, Ia., also numerous nieces and nephews.

At the age of 16 years she was confirmed in St. Paul's Lutheran church, later moved to Fernald and later transferred her membership to Memorial Lutheran church at Nevada where she kept her faith to the end, being a wonderful wife, mother and neighbor.

People here from out of the city attending the funeral services were Nathan Kelley of Fairmont, Minn., Mrs. Clara Pool, Mrs. Herbert Winters and son Herbert, Jacob Kelley and Frank Kelley of Swea City; Mr. and Mrs. Ike McKim and daughter Mary of Plover; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Schrader, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Hand and John Schmidt of Hawkeye; Aaron Hefley and wife of Zearing; Dennis Hankins, wife and daughter Mildred of Colo; Mr. and Mrs. Edd Hefley of Indianola; Mr. and Mrs. Claude Pool and family of Des Moines and Mrs. Mabel Keller of Carlisle.
