Funeral services for the late Arthur Ray McBride, 68, Nevada, whose death occurred in the University Hospital, Iowa City, were held from the Zearing E.U.B. Church, Thursday at 2:30 P.M. with Rev. Robert Spencer of Nevada, assisted by the Rev. D. Eller of Zearing, officiating.

Mrs. John Brierly and Mrs. Vida Tisdale arranged the flowers.

The casket bearers were nephews Max McBride, William McBride, Dean Johnston, Marvin McBride, Boyd Irvine and Carroll Irvine.

Burial was in the Zearing cemetery.

Arthur Ray McBride was born on May 8, 1886, in Champaign County, Illinois of Jacob Edmund & Clara Belle McBride.

He attended county school near Nevada and Zearing.

On Feb. 3, 1909 he was married to Lura Eula Deal. To this union 2 children were born Harlow Ray McBride of Zearing & Mary Clarabelle (Mrs. Alvin McBride) of Zearing.

Mr. McBride was baptized in Presbyterian faith and united with the church which was then located in a school house north of Nevada.

Mr. McBride farmed in the Zearing community for 45 years before retiring to Nevada in March 1952.

Mr. McBride was in seeming good health until 4 years ago when he discovered he had cancer & complications, since that time he had been in & out of the hospital several times. He passed away from this life on Sept. 13 at 2:15 P.M. at Iowa University Hospital.

One sister Pearl Deal & one brother Orrin McBride preceded him in death.

Left to mourn his passing Lura Eula, son Harlow of Zearing & daughter Mary (Mrs. Alwin Johnson) of Zearing: 5 grandchildren Anita Dae McBride, Lana Faye McBride, Kathy Rae McBride, Gene Ray & Jerry Lynn Johnson all of Zearing.

Four Brothers & four sisters, Glen McBride of Zearing, Harold , Leslie, Russell of Nevada, Lucy (Mrs. William Irvine) of Blue Earth, Minnesota, Lola (Mrs. Blayney Johnston) of Zearing, Velma (Mrs. Merle Matson) of Colo, & Avalee (Mrs. Wilbur Webb) of Ames.

Those who knew Ray McBride speak of him as a man of clean habits through the years, a good neighbor, & one who knew the Lord as his Saviour & was ready to meet him.
