Last Rites Held For Mrs. David Mulcahy

Mrs. David Mulcahy passed away at her home south of Colo January 23, very suddenly after a week's illness with a heart ailment.

Obituary

Alice Smith Mulcahy was born on March 19, 1869, at Drumond, Caven, Ireland. When a young woman she came to America and Nevada, Iowa, where she lived for some time and worked at the dressmaking trade. In 1895 she was united in marriage to David Mulcahy at St. Patrick's church in Nevada and came to the farm southeast of Colo, which has been her home continuously the past fifty-seven years.

Her kind and charitable qualifications endeared her to all who knew her. As a mother she filled every obligation. In her life work she made a lasting impression for good on those about her. She was a devoted Catholic and an exemplary Christian of sterling character and admired by all who had her acquaintance.

Her husband David Mulcahy preceded her his death on July 18, 1947. Two daughters died in infancy. Three sons survive, James and Joseph at hoe and Marcus of Langdon, N. D. and three granddaughters, Mary Jo, Maureen and Michele Mulcahy of Langdon, N. D.

Funeral services were held from St. Mary's church Saturday morning, Jan. 26, with Father Vern Cross officiating.

Casket bearers were D. P. Mulcahy, P. D. Fitzgerald, Wm. Fitzgerald, James Croker, W. H. Jennet, R. H. Hopkins. Interment was in the family lot in St. James cemetery.

Relatives from out of town in attendance at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Don Douglas and John Klutts of Omaha; Dr. and Mrs. H. F. Klutts and Rickey of Mondamin, Mrs. Thos. Fitzgerald and son Francis and daughter Mary, Mr. and Mrs. D. P. Mulcahy, Mr. and Mrs. M. R. Coburn, Miss Evangeline Mulcahy of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Olson, Sioux Falls, S. D., Francis Olson and Ray Galligan of Cedar Rapids, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Corns and son Dick, Tama;

Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Johnson, Mrs. Joe Croker, Mrs. John Croker, Mrs. Chas. Helin, Mr. and Mrs. V. G. McKnight, and Mrs. and Mrs. Ralph Psinkle, Marshalltown; Thomas Fitzgerald and daughter Maralyn, Boone; Mrs. John Fitzgerald, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Stark and son Paul of Nevada and relatives and friends from nearby towns.
