Leander C. Haig

Funeral services for Leander C. Haig, 62, of Des Moines were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 26 at Merle Hay Funeral Home with burial at Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Haig died of a heart attack on Tuesday, Dec. 23. He was the son of Henry and Celia Haig and graduated from the Huxley schools. Leander was a veteran of World War II. He moved to Des Moines 30 years ago.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy, three daughters Ruth A. Linge of Des Moines, Susan of Showalter of North Miami, Florida; and Norma Varn of Waterloo, one brother Henry of Nashua, N.H., two sisters, Jane Ferguson of Story City and Constance Tegtmeyer of Chicago, Ill. and three grandchildren; two aunts, Mrs. Minnie Erickson of Huxley and Miss Bertha Monson of Des Moines.
